The SCN Policy Summit will be unlike any other SCN Summit you've attended
This special summit will convene and connect you with legislators, agency administrators, and program managers to talk about advocacy, policy, programs, and procurements related to ecosystem building.
Led by our Board of Directors, this Summit will be different from our normal summit programs. Expect to hear partner organizations who are part of the national, state, and local policy and advocacy efforts and learn how you can become an agent for policy change in your ecosystem. Also expect to hear from Federal agency champions who are weaving entrepreneurial ecosystem building concepts into their programs that result in procurement and contract opportunities for you! Don't worry, we'll still keep some of your favorite SCN Summit activities. But alongside some new ones, too.
We will be hosting a welcome dinner for folks coming in the night before (on Tuesday, June 6). The official Summit Kickoff will be on the morning of June 7th.
Activities you can expect to see will include:

Many of us have found that accessing public dollars and support is difficult. There are no guaranteed methods, but it is clear that relationship is a powerful component to getting attention and gaining access, particularly for communities that are historically sidelined.
This session will focus on using proven relational models to building bridges to public resources. We will work collaboratively to identify common goals, and utilize strategic processes and collective power to open the doors to support for ecosystem investment.

Entrepreneurial ecosystems play a critical role in economic growth and community health and well-being. Yet a healthy, thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem requires more than individual entrepreneurs. It requires infrastructure and systems to support entrepreneurs, often by connecting them to communities, institutions, opportunities, and services. This session will focus on how Community Development Financial Institutions and Credit Unions (CDFIs/CDCUs) can harness various resources to strengthen entrepreneurial-led activity and ecosystems. Far from limited to thinking about the ways they offer support for specific causes, we will discuss how to support CDFIs/CDCUs as they build knowledge and identify actionable ways not only to serve entrepreneurs but build cultures and environments that bridge disconnections that undermine entrepreneurial success. This includes breaking down barriers to capital and providing technical assistance, telling compelling stories while building human and social capital. Furthermore, the program seeks to scope and scale credit union entrepreneurial ecosystem-building by focusing on how credit unions can deploy their diverse assets in a strategic and financially sensible way that ultimately serves their mission and strengthen their institutions.
